NewsMark Lanegan set for T In The ParkMark Lanegan will play at this year's T In The Park festival. The singer will join Soulsavers who will play in the Pet Sounds Arena on the Sunday of the event (July 8). The Brian Jonestown Massacre will also play the same stage just below them. T In The Park takes place between July 6-8, the full line up so far is: Friday (July 6) Main Stage Arctic Monkeys Bloc Party The Coral Lily Allen Saturday (July 7) Main Stage The Killers Razorlight Arcade Fire James James Morrison The Skids The Saw Doctors The Hold Steady close Sunday's Carling Tent action The Hold Steady played a headline set tonight (August 26) in the Carling Tent at the Carling Weekend: Reading Festival, bringing the weekend's musical events there to a close. Taking the stage at 22:35 GMT, the band ran through tracks from their latest album, 'Boys And Girls In America', plus a spattering of old favourites. The Hold Steady played to a half-ful tent - possibly because Klaxons, who had been one of the buzz bands of the weekend, were playing in the NME/Radio One Tent at the same time. Nevertheless, singer/guitarist Craig Finn, wearing a white Minnesota Twins baseball shirt, led his band through their set in an ecstatic mood, laughing and smiling throughout, as well as throwing "Superman" poses and mock lecturing-style wagging fingers at the crowd. "We've seen a lot of bands this weekend," he told the crowd after playing 'Banging Camp'. "We've heard a lot of songs about boys and girls," he continued. "This is another song about a boy and a girl. And a horse." The band then played 'Chips Ahoy', which won some of the biggest cheers of the set. Closing with a high-octane 'Killer Parties', The Hold Steady left the crowd smiling cheering for more. |
